Should You Disassemble a Bed Frame Before Removal?
Take it apart only when the frame is straightforward, stable, and within your skill level.

Good candidates for basic disassembly
Simple metal rails, removable slats, and bolt-on headboards are often easier to inventory in sections. Photograph the frame first and keep fasteners together. Stop if the frame carries tension, includes powered parts, or has damaged joints.
What to ask before you start
Will disassembly change the estimate? Does the provider expect the frame assembled? Are adjustable bases accepted? Who is responsible for wall-mounted pieces? Clear answers prevent duplicate work.
Make a parts inventory
Count rails, slats, center supports, legs, headboard pieces, footboard pieces, and hardware bags. Mark pieces with removable painter’s tape if they look similar, but do not put adhesive on delicate finishes.
Avoid the loose-parts problem
Bundle only pieces that can be secured without sharp ends protruding. Keep screws in a closed bag rather than taped to upholstery. Tell the crew about broken wood, exposed staples, or glass inserts.
Safety boundary
Large upholstered sections and heavy adjustable bases are team-lift or equipment jobs. OSHA advises help or mechanical assistance for awkward loads and a clear travel path.
