Box Spring Pickup Checklist for Tight Hallways
Rigid foundations fail at corners that a flexible mattress can pass.

Measure three places
Measure the foundation, the narrowest doorway, and the tightest landing or hall turn. Width alone is not enough; the diagonal clearance around a turn often decides the route.
Check removable pieces
Some foundations have screw-on legs or brackets. Remove only parts designed to come off, and place hardware in a sealed bag. Do not saw or break the frame to solve an access problem before speaking with the removal provider.
Protect the route
Move breakable décor and small furniture. Open doors fully and confirm that door closers, baby gates, or railings will not narrow the path. If the building has an elevator, ask management about dimensions and booking rules.
Useful photo set
Take one photo of the whole foundation, one of the narrowest doorway, one of each stair turn, and one of the final loading point. These views make an access conversation concrete.
Know when to stop
A foundation that binds at a turn can damage walls or put the carriers in an awkward posture. OSHA notes that bulky objects and long reaches increase handling risk. Let the crew choose the safe route or disassembly approach.
